If you build it, they will come: Implementing a Web Content Management System
In the fall of 2008, Information Technology Services at the University of Western Ontario began searching for a Web Content Management System to simplify the updating of our web content. Hannon Hill’s Cascade Server was ultimately chosen. Implementation began in the spring of 2009, and by the fall of 2009 Cascade Server was being offered to any faculty or department that wished to use it. This presentation will discuss why we chose a commercial package rather than open source solution, the success we've had, and some of the challenges we're experiencing in deploying the service in a decentralized IT environment.
